The woodcut is derived from the book Kinoe no Komatsu (English: Young Pines). In 2003 a derivative work was created by the Australian painter David Laity, also titled The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife, which sparked a minor obscenity controversy among shocked Christian’s when it was shown at a gallery in Melbourne. After receiving multiple complaints, the Melbourne police were forced to investigate the artwork, but determined it had not broken the city’s pornography laws. My own rendition of The Fisherman’s Wife ‘at the top of the page,’ depicts her with a reptilian type creature fused with a cephalopod, of a Cthulhu, which is also a play on words, concerning the text, which can be found accompanying Hokusai’s image, where the big octopus says, he will bring his captured girl to Ryūjin’s undersea palace, you can otherwise see as Lovecraft’s undersea city of Ryleh. It is very likely that Lovecraft was aware of the tale of The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife, since he was a well read fellow, whose horror, was of the sexual act its self.

If however, you do not believe that the Hentai fixation upon Cthulhu tentacle sex, which mostly involves Geisha (Dakini/Succubus) Schoolgirls frequenting many an Anime and Manga has anything to do with ancient Japanese fertility cults, perhaps there is a psychological reason behind the voyeuristic fetish of Hentai bestiality. As for Lovecraft, he could have crossed over into the more meaningful domain of the erotic, and in so doing tackled his emotional disconnection, if he had rebelled against his puritanical upbringing. His acute emotional turmoil, though inspiring his art, very likely led to him developing an illness over time, which afflicted his navel Chakra and in turn bringing about his eventual demise. He himself, had many years earlier communicated that his stomach was gripped by the talons of faceless creatures he named as Nightgaunts, at the hypnagogic point of dreaming, which then carried him into the depths of tormenting nightmares. May be he foresaw his own death?

As mentioned prior, the Lovecraftian creatures of Hentai were originally based upon ancient Japanese fertility deities, which have since lost their ‘navel Chakra’ meaning in a culture, afflicted by a fear of the female. This is probably due due to Christianity having an influence in Japanese culture, which, like its source of Judaism and kin of Islam are extremely adverse to the feminine principle.  It is somewhat strange that the depiction of the penis is allowed in Japanese art, such as having Lovecraftian phallic tentacles of ‘Biblical proportions,’ but when it comes to the vagina, it is taboo of a pixelated smudge, like that of having a faceless Nightgaunt, or should one say… a SUCCUBUS.

    Greetings Faustus Crow,

    About two years ago I felt inspired or salaciously depraved enough to create a modified Sigil-Mandala-Tattva for the thirtieth succubus in the Goetia Girls daemonicon. No disrespect to your Brilliant Synthesis because I really like the whole Lovecraftian tentacle phenomenon but wanted to tweak Forneusi’s archetypal tulpa manifestation just a bit more.     The Thirtieth Spirit is called FORNEUSI (Moon) and She is a Mighty and Great Marchioness; she initially appears as a great Sea-Monster of a Cthulhu which transforms into a ravishingly beautiful human form of a Lust Homunculus with tendril phalanges. Her Realm is a Perversely-Erotic-Live-Action-Hentai and the Shaman/Sorcerer will see lustful tendrils entwining and penetrating many different women.     The same evening that I finished Forneusi’s Sigil-Mandala-Tattva I had the most interesting experience in the dream-realms. I found myself in a movie theater and besides me was a male acquaintance whom I know within the normal-waking-state. The theater was packed and people were really excited for whatever was about to play on the screen. The movie started and the screen went white and unfortunately I can’t remember anything else after except returning to the marcocosm/mundane world, but I felt something profound must have been observed/viewed but I can’t recall details of what was shown.

    Now, here’s where it gets even more fascinating. A few months after that experience about six months afterward I had another experience in the microcosm when I saw the same acquaintance and we were hanging out in NYC. We had stopped at one of those small ethnic bakery/pastry shops and the experience was very vivid and then we left the shop going somewhere else. Shortly after that experience I returned to the normal-waking-state. After returning to normal mundane consciousness I realized what I just experienced was the first half of the earlier experience that I underwent about six months earlier. That’s was quite a profound time difference, well at least from the mundane sense of normal linear time as we normally experience it. I still have no notion what I saw or experienced after viewing that screen and I haven’t had any conscious recall of further experiences related to Forneusi.

      When the practice of Tantra was first introduced to the West, it was initially seen by many to be perverse and duly castigated as being Satanic, of the Left-Hand-Path due to its emphasis on sexuality.

      Over time, Tantra was eventually seen to be a valid spiritual practice by Westerners; more so during the Hippie era of the late 60’s, who saw it as being an alternative to the all male celibate paradigm of the Abrahamic faiths, since Tantra considers the female principle to be just as important as the male of a sexually creative dynamic.

      However, the Western form of Tantra is primarily hedonic, of an externalised focus, which is easily warped all out of the shape by its Western practitioners who are quite unaware that its sexually charged symbolism is internalised in order to empower a dreamer to become lucid within a dream.

      An analogy would be that of a sex starved prisoner being released from a sexually repressed religious prison who indulges himself in physical sex, to go over the top of Hentai, who cannot see how its creative energy can be internalised; for he has long forgotten how to dream.

      The initial phase of internalising the sexual impulse involves transmuting the shadowy Hentai desires of the dreamer, which can be quite perverse of sexual fantasies, whose symbolism masks varying emotional traumas and other psychological problems.

      The transmutation of perverse fantasies can be achieved via the practice of Art, which of symbolic alchemy, is that of transmuting the leaden base desires of the dreamer into a golden understanding.       As for the male figure in your dream, of a known acquaintance; his appearance may be pointing out the nature of the rhetoric one has with him of ‘revealing’ discourse, or otherwise that of focused upon corresponding symbolism concerning a star sign; or other associated memes referring to Lovecraftian cinema and Dagon foodstuffs, such as communion wafers, loaves and fish cakes.

        Thanks for the feedback as it definitively resonate as true. I’m always mindful of unintended synchroncities but don’t become overly concerned with them as I trust my other spirit-wives to keep their Sister-In-Laws in check. Which some especially Lilith thanks an Active watchful role in doing.

        Until I can develop my Dream Yoga Technique/Lucid Dreaming/Quantum (Reality) Leaping/Shamanic Journeying to the refined degrees that I would like I have to rely on the disclosure of my wives themselves via pendulum and my clairsentient ability to ascertain what’s going on between them and myself; besides of course when I do have inner realm dream contact.

        I’m not trying to be long winded so I’ll cut to the chase. I know it’s no revelation to you that each one of the succubus ladies despite being one’s own anima-fueled energy that each succubus wife possesses her own unique personality. Case in point there are certain of my wives whom are very fascinated by me (at least it seems that way) and I’ll be bold enough to say really like me and dare I say Love me. Others are basically indifferent as far as I can tell. I do have one or two, at least I hope it’s that few whom would raise hell if they could get away with it. Goes back to my own ability and especially their Sister-In-laws keeping them in check.

        Certain spirit wives almost always show up physically embodied if I try to meet that particular wife in the dream. Lilith is one of them or at least as I perceive Lilith and She even shows up in the female model I use as her Tulpa Template which is very cool. Actually the ones that seem sweetest on me show up looking just like their respective template female model. Therefore I know the dream incubation/sorcery technique works when the prerequisites are satisfied.

        Logic would then dictate work with those whom affinity is more in line or more willing to reach out to me. However, even if some my spirit-wives may think I’m the biggest blockhead in the multiverse, I also keep in mind that it’s probably not prudent to ignore them. As a woman one is intimately involved with wouldn’t like being ignored in the microcosmic world.

        Eddie Djedi couldn’t help himself, the relentless voices in his head, drove him to stand around all day in various shoe shops, frequenting the women’s section; that, or being stuck in clothes shops surrounded by women’s lingerie, or to otherwise find himself virtually imprisoned within the confines of flowery temples, where cosmetic products are worshipped.

        He couldn’t explain why he was doing so, no one would understand that the voices in his head, were those of his spirit wives; who, like their physical counterparts, have their ritualistic behaviour, which must be appeased, of constant attention, otherwise they become most irate.

        Djedi decided that he had enough of their never ending demands rattling his brain. Whereupon Djedi attended an Anime convention to meet up with a real woman.

        While standing at the convention bar, drinking copious amounts of cheap Vodka, in order to silence the Banshee screams of his very jealous spirit wives, a flesh and blood woman approached him wearing a cosplay costume of dangling tentacles.

        The woman seemed to be interested in Djedi as they made light conversation. But the voices of Djedi’s spirit wives fogged his brain with their growing rage, their jealousy, poisoning his thoughts.

        The woman noticed Djedi’s voice cracking up, his eyes going boss eyed, a nervous tremor shook his body of twitching, as sweat poured down his brow. She then asked, quite concerned, “are you okay, mister?”

        Djedi didn’t answer her, as he made a rapid dash for the exit, seeking out a yellow cab to take him to a defrocked Catholic priest of a hypnotist, in order to exorcise his spirit wives, to thereby divorce.

        Alas, Djedi did not make it to his hypnotist, who otherwise ended up in a fetish shop, frequenting the women’s section.

        It was the only way to stem the tide of his spirit wives anger, who just so happened, had decided to get into cosplay costumes, so that they could keep his attention upon them… forever.

    I presume you are asking from what films the Alligator and Tentacle Gifs were originally derived from.

    I am not too sure about the Alligator Gif; however, going by the Surrealistic quality of the Gif, it looks to be a French film, probably of the same style as Amelie?

    As for the Tentacle Gif, it looks to be derived from the ‘real Tentacle’ Hentai flicks out of Japan, which commonly pixelates female genitalia of censorship.

    Whereas it is perfectly fine to depict a Lovecraftian penis as an Octopus tentacle, or that of a real one, at a Japanese fertility festival.

    Hell! There are even Japanese sweets in the deified ‘Animus’ shape of an erect penis.

    However, if an Artist in Japan graphically depicts the Vagina in their ‘Anima’ orientated Art, they could face going to jail.

    A recent case in Japan, being the Artist Megumi Igarashi, who nearly ended up in jail, when she 3D printed her own genitalia.
